Winter Park Fall Activities for a Family Vacation

You don’t have to look at the calendar to learn that summer has ended and the frenzy of fall has begun; it’s clearly apparent in the sounds of school buses honking for students that are always late and in the sight of frazzled mothers helping sulking children find their favorite shoes. But as the minutes in your day become more and more filled with homework, parent teacher meetings, and after school sports, one thought going through your mind keeps you sane: The realization that Fall Break is just a few short weeks away and the knowledge you will be spending it in Winter Park, Colorado with your family! This guide to family fun in Winter Park will help you achieve your goal!

Celebrate the Season

The Fall Festival is our favorite way of celebrating the season and the Winter Park Fall Fest is why! Held on September 14th and offering so much fun it’s almost unbelievable, your getaway will shine bright when you spend time playing at this event! Live music, face painting, bouncy houses, and bobbing for donuts are just a part of the celebration, and because this event is a fundraiser for the Grand Kids Early Learning Center, you can do a good deed while having an even greater time!

All Aboard for Fun

In this day and age, it isn’t often we get to enjoy the laid-back way of traveling by train, but the Georgetown Loop Railroad changes all that! Sit back and watch the beauty of Colorado in the fall pass by the windows; you and your family are about to experience an adventure you won’t soon forget! With prices starting at $29.50, this activity fits well in a tighter vacation budget.

The Longest Slide of Your Life

This next activity has a limited shelf life, as the Alpine shuts down for the winter after September 29th, but if your fall break takes place before that, we seriously recommend you try it out! Billed as Colorado’s longest slide, the adventure begins with a trip up the Arrow Lift and ends 3000 feet later at the base of Winter Park Resort. Not for children under the age of 2, this ride costs $20 per person for riders 5 and over and $6 for riders under 5 and is a blast for the whole family! This is one of the best Winter Park fall activities!
