Winter Park Activities for a Solo Traveler

The majestic landscape of the Rockies calls to travelers year-round, and Winter Park is a terrific place for a solo adventure. With nearly endless outdoor recreation, friendly local breweries, and miles of stunning scenery, it’s easy to keep entertained when you’re traveling solo in the mountains! Here’s a list of some Winter Park activities that are perfect for a solo traveler when visiting Winter Park!

Go Mountain Biking or Hiking

Winter Park is also known as the mountain biking capital of the USA and boasts a number of beautiful mountain biking trails winding through pine forests, meadows dotted with wildflowers, and striking views with jagged peaks looming in the distance. You can rent a bike from shops like Christy’s Sports in town, and head out to easy trails like the Fraser River Loop, which is accessible from town. In the winter, you can opt for a “Fat-Bike,” a special bike with large tires that can easily ride over snow! If you’re not a biker, you can always take a nearby trail like First Creek Cabin or the Jim Creek Trail, easily reached from town!

Treat Yourself to a Spa Service or Yoga Class

Sometimes when you’re traveling solo it’s nice to reward yourself with a relaxing luxury or an activity to balance your mind and body. At the Ranch Creek Spa at the Devil’s Thumb Ranch in nearby Tabernash, they have a beautiful facility overlooking the meadow with personal treatment rooms, separate men’s and women’s locker areas with steam rooms, and a yoga studio with a lovely view. Stop by for a rejuvenating deep tissue massage, or a yoga class to unwind—maybe even do both!

Visit a Local Craft Brewery, Distillery, or Winery

Colorado goes hand in hand with high-quality brews from small and local breweries, and Winter Park lives up to that standard! Hideaway Park Brewery in downtown showcases over ten of their own brews, along with weekly growler fill specials if you’d like to take some home—with a laidback atmosphere, you might even meet someone to chat with over a pint! If craft beer isn’t your thing, the Idlewild Distillery offers up a number of handmade cocktails using their own spirits distilled onsite, and the Winter Park Winery offers tasting flights for around $10 a person!
