Where to Go for Some Time on the Ice

Winter Park has a number of great ice skating spots where you can not only enjoy a classic winter pastime, but enjoy a fantastic mountain view as well.

The Village at Winter Park has an outdoor ice skating rink that is set against the stunning backdrop of the Continental Divide. With the exception of being closed during bouts of warmer temperatures, the outdoor rink is open from 10:00am to 10:00pm daily during the skiing season. Ice skating gear is available for rent at Winter Park Resort nearby. Additionally, free ice skating lessons are offered at the rink on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 4:00pm to 5:00pm. Just remember to sign up for free lessons by 3:00pm that day!

Fraser Valley Sports Complex is another renowned Winter Park ice skating locale, famous for its “IceBox” skating rink, a partially-enclosed and naturally frozen rink where visitors can skate for free and rent ice skates on-site. The facility also offers organized hockey and ice skating programs.

Cooper Creek Square is a wonderful place to ice skate, especially if you’re on a budget. Ice skating at the rink is free, so just bring your own gear or rent from a local rental shop nearby!

Snow Mountain Ranch is another great location for ice skating in Winter Park, CO that offers not only ice skating, but a host of other winter outdoor activities as well. You can purchase tickets for ice skating, or combined tickets that include cross country skiing, sledding, and more.

Finally, Devil’s Thumb Ranch has their own private outdoor rink where you can skate ‘til your heart’s content. You can even purchase day passes that allow you to not only skate, but go cross country skiing and snowshoeing as well.
