July 4th in Winter Park

The summer season is the best time to escape the heat back home and explore the outdoors. Typically, with the summer we are able to take some time to ourselves with the kids on summer break from school. If you are looking to take advantage of a summer stay that works for everyone, come check out Winter Park for the Fourth of July holiday. Our patriotic founding happens to fall on a Thursday this year allowing the family to have an easy extended weekend away. Winter Park features plenty of exciting summer activities along with some special ways to celebrate the holiday. Here is how you can enjoy a Fourth of July stay right here in Winter Park:

Rendezvous Run for Independence

While the Thanksgiving holiday is typically known to have fun runs or 5Ks to start the holiday off with, July 4th celebrations also tend to feature them yearly. Winter Park is no different as we kick start our Fourth of July celebrations with an annual fun run the morning of July 4th. The Rendezvous Run for Independence 5K Run and walk is held here in beautiful Winter Park, so you have an incredible backdrop off the mountains behind you. This 5K starts over at Gondola Plaza in Winter Park Resort before you make your way down Fraser River Trail. You will have green forests, open valleys, and Winter Park itself as your scenery.

Attendees will make their way back to the Rendezvous Event Center to finish up the race where they will find awards, refreshments, and prize giveaways. Registration is required in advance and is available online or in person on July 2nd and 3rd. Attendees who register prior to June 20th will be given an event t-shirt to commemorate their race! Attendees and guests will also be able to enjoy a free gondola ride up to Winter Park Resort to shop around after the race! The Rendezvous Run for Independence will start at 9:00 a.m. on July 4th so make sure to get there early before 8:30 a.m. to pick up your race materials!

Live Music with Zach Day

Take a break with the holiday festivities on July 4th by catching Zach Day and his live music taking place over at Cooper Creek Square in Winter Park. This self-taught musician and songwriter has toured across the US and Canada on multiple occasions and will be bringing his blues music to us here in the area. The event begins at 3:00 p.m. and will run until 6:00 p.m. just before other July 4th activities take place in Winter Park.

Winter Park 4th of July Celebration & Concert: Red, White, and Buckstein

The festivities will continue over at the Rendezvous Event Center starting at 6:00 p.m. with the annual Winter Park 4th of July Celebration & Concert: Red, White, and Buckstein. This is no typical Fourth of July celebration and instead a full-blown concert and light show. The Winter Park 4th of July Celebration & Concert: Red, White, and Buckstein is the biggest Fourth of July event in the area and is free to attend.

The Rendezvous Event Center offers plenty of space for you to enjoy lawn games including bocce ball, corn hole, and more. Jump in the complimentary photo booth to snap a pic of the event to commemorate everything. Attendees are encouraged to take advantage of the beautiful Colorado weather and pack a picnic to enjoy at the festival. Live music will be provided by Buckstein and DJ Jen G throughout the evening so you can tune in while you enjoy the festivities. The Rendezvous Event Center is a smoke, vape, and pet-free event center so make sure to leave any friendly pup friends back at your vacation rental. Adult beverages are welcome for those who are ages 21 and older to be consumed responsibly at the event center.

Of course, no Fourth of July event would be complete without a fireworks show. While Winter Park does not allow fireworks in the city limits you will be able to enjoy a fireworks demonstration show on the jumbotron screen at the conclusion of the event. This allows Winter Park to celebrate with a large selection of activities while being considerate of the drier climate conditions that the summer season has been bringing us. Don’t miss out on the annual Winter Park 4th of July Celebration & Concert: Red, White, and Buckstein that once again returns to the Rendezvous Event Center this year!
