Winter Park is an exciting vacation destination filled with promises of awe-inspiring sights and thrilling adventures outdoors. No visitor wants to have their Winter Park experience marred by the stress of figuring out how to get around. That’s why we’ve put together a brief, handy guide to the ins and outs of navigating through Winter Park! Read on below to find out more about what you should know before you come here for a smooth ride in our town!

Take the Hassle Out of Navigating Through Winter Park

In Winter Park, visitors and locals commonly take the free Winter Park shuttle to where they need to go. Our free local Winter Park shuttle, known as the Lift Shuttle, runs from 7:00am to 2:00am daily, making it a convenient choice for your Winter Park transportation no matter where your day takes you. The Lift even goes as far as Fraser and Granby, meaning that you can plan outings to nearby attractions without having to worry about driving. Riders can also download the RIDEHOP app and see when the Lift will arrive at their stop in real time.

However, you can also get to Winter Park by Amtrak. Year-round, Amtrak’s California Zephyr stops in the nearby towns of Fraser and Granby, from which you can take the free Lift Shuttle to Winter Park. During the skiing season, Amtrak operates a special Winter Park Express that travels to Denver by way of the historic route through Moffat Tunnel. Riding the Winter Park train can also be romantic!

If you’re flying into or coming from Denver, you can also take a Greyhound bus straight to downtown Winter Park, or use a taxi or shuttle service to drive you straight to your vacation rental.

You can drive your own personal vehicle, but it’s often unnecessary unless you plan on going out further than the Lift can take you. It’s also usually a wiser choice to take the shuttle to the ski resort and other areas in town or even to walk than it is to drive, as the roads can be difficult to drive on and the area is enormous. If you do decide to drive your own vehicle, make sure you know how to drive on mountain roads, especially in the snow.
