Visit the Cozens Ranch Museum
Back when families traveled by stagecoach in the 1800s Winter Park was a quick stop along the way to the West Coast. Traveling this way was difficult especially so during the winter season. What is now known as the Cozens Ranch Museum was one place where families could stop to escape the elements before continuing on with their journey. This museum is complete with restored buildings so you can take a peek back in time. Visitors will be able to see how the simpler times of life were enjoyed Cozens Ranch Museum can be found just outside of Winter Park off Highway 40. The museum is open daily during the summer from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM; the museum has the same hours in winter but is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Grab a Pint at a Local Brewery
It is no secret that Colorado is a beer lovers’ haven with hundreds of breweries open all across the state. Winter Park is home to several of these breweries and they are all within close proximity to one another. During your rainy day head over to Big Trout Brewery for their handcrafted beers and tasty bites. The brewery makes its beer with a High-Efficiency Brewing System making sure each batch gets the most of their grain and that no water ever goes to waste. Big Trout Brewery is open Thursday through Monday for environment-friendly beers and bites. Hideaway Park Brewery is a more recent addition to the brewery scene and is just down the street. It is named after the original settlement of the area called Hideaway Park. It is the perfect spot to grab a pint with friends or family. Hideaway Park Brewery does not offer any food but features exclusive beers found nowhere else. The Noble Buck Brewery Co. is also on this block of breweries. It is a full-service gastro brewery with plenty of beer and food. All of the food is familiar entrees but with a unique twist. You will find there are always 12 beers on tap at a time making sure everyone has something to enjoy. Don’t miss out on checking out one of these incredible breweries in the area!
Go Swimming at the Grand Park Community Recreation Center
You will find plenty of fun during your rainy day when you escape off to the Grand Park Community Recreation Center right here in Winter Park. Like other recreation facilities, there are a variety of pools to be found inside. Adults will love to bask in the hot water of the huge hot tub in the sauna or relax in the steam room. Children will have a blast relaxing in the lazy river, going down the water slide, getting a few laps in the lap pool, or playing around on the aqua play structure. The recreation center also has a spacious gymnasium where you can get a variety of workouts during a single visit.
Enjoy an Evening at The Foundry Cinema & Bowl
You can never predict the weather and sometimes the rainfall or snowfall will last for a few hours. If you need an extended amount of time to relax make sure you head over to The Foundry Cinema & Bowl. This local attraction is a state-of-the-art movie theatre and bowling alley combined together. There are 8 bowling lanes along with delicious wood-fire pizzas, a full-service bar, billiards, air hockey, shuffleboard, and more. The movie theatre rooms offer huge screens, reclining leather seats, and in-movie service. The Foundry is always playing the current movies on film and will have you on the edge of your seats.
