There’s “snow” place like home, but there may be someplace even better – one of our vacation rental home at Winter Park! This year get away from the daily hassles of the holidays spent at home, and out into the fresh air of this beautiful area. It’s time to hold Thanksgiving in Colorado, where “stress” won’t even be in your vocabulary: Winter Park, Colorado.

Winter Park Activities

The plethora of ski slopes nearby ensures that you could easily spend your whole vacation skiing and snowboarding, whether you’re a pro or haven’t touched a pair of skis before. The Colorado winter always makes for an excellent skiing season, with plenty of fresh powder to go around.

Take a spin in something different with a visit to the Fraser Tubing Hill, where you can rent snow tubes (free with admission price) and zoom down the hill over and over, buddied up inside the tubes with your family.

You’ll want to stay until at least December 1st, when you can kick off the rest of the winter holidays at the Festival of Trees in nearby Fraser, Colorado. This incredible festival will have traditional holiday food, ornately decorated wreaths and Christmas trees, and a visit from Santa so you can submit your final wish list in person!

If you’re a fishing enthusiast, try your hand at some ice fishing on Lake Granby, or even fly-fishing for trout at the Fraser River, Willow Creek, or Vasquez Creek. Don’t worry about leaving your gear at home, as you can easily buy some of the best equipment you’ll need from the friendly folks at Winter Park Flyfisher.

There are countless other outdoors activities to take part in, so take your pick! From snowshoeing the endless trails available, going on a special sleigh ride, or ice skating at one of the many outdoor rinks, there will be no way to get bored on this vacation.

And, hey, would it really be a Winter Park Thanksgiving without the turkey dinner? While the kids play in the snow right outside the door of your rental home, use the fully equipped kitchen to cook up a feast fit for a king. Dig in from the comfort of the house, surrounded with the smells of turkey, cranberry sauce, and mashed potatoes, as well as that cozy atmosphere that comes of being near the ones you love.
