Enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving in Winter Park

Thanksgiving 2021 in Winter Park

If you need to get away for some rest, relaxation, and fun this Thanksgiving, Winter Park has plenty to do. There are an array of daytime and evening activities to keep everyone in the group busy and happy. From area restaurants providing all the Thanksgiving meal trimmings to unique activities and experiences like a holiday train ride through the mountains, you’ll create a Winter Park Thanksgiving getaway as unique as you and your loved ones.

A Winter Park Thanksgiving Dinner

If part of your Thanksgiving relaxation includes not putting on a big meal, turn to Winter Park’s restaurants for everything you desire. Eat in style at one of Winter Park Resort’s restaurants, each providing a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings or taste the Thanksgiving flavors of other Winter Park establishments. You can also elect to go outside the town borders to Fraser or Tabernash. Wherever you dine, make sure to make advanced reservations.

Winter Holiday Train

Say “all aboard” for a different way to see even more of Colorful Colorado from another point of view. Enjoy a train ride on an old-time steam or diesel locomotive on the Georgetown Loop Railroad. The railroad is only about 45 minutes from Winter Park and brings a special show to its tour in the winter months. Join Santa on a trip through his “lighted forest” – a trip offering beautiful mountain views topped with snow and a beautiful Christmas light show and holiday music. Meet with Santa and his helpers throughout the 50- to 60-minute ride. You can also join him for his Rocky Mountain Adventure for a little different experience. Closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day. Advanced tickets required.

Winter Activities

Thanksgiving is the unofficial start of many winter celebrations and holidays. It’s also the time when Winter Park’s ski season kicks into high gear. The season officially opens on November 17, but the holiday brings tourists from across the country to spend some time on the powder. Rent some gear or make sure yours makes the packing list and hit the slopes for skiing and snowboarding or find a unique experience like a sleigh ride or snow tubing.

Holiday Lights Show & Tree Lighting

Thanksgiving weekend is full of fun and anticipation for the winter holidays to come. On November 27, the Saturday after the big meal, join locals and visitors alike for the Holiday Lights show & Tree Lighting ceremony. The free event takes place in Winter Park Village and includes carols and holiday songs performed by the Beverley Bells, cozy fires to gather around, and more. Festivities are from 3:30-5 p.m. with the light show starting at 4:40 p.m.
