With the new year comes exciting activities and social events, and despite being 9000+ feet in elevation, Winter Park has plenty to keep you busy in early 2020! It’s a great time of year to visit Winter Park, as ski season is in full swing and the rugged mountain peaks are capped with snow, offering a wide variety of outdoor adventures. 5Point Adventure Film Festival
On January 4th, 2020 from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM, the 5Point Adventure Film Festival will be held at the Headwater Center in Winter Park. 5Point specializes in “great adventure stories from the edges of our planet, the outskirts of our mountain towns, the heart of our cities”. What a better way to get you in the mood for a Rocky Mountain adventure? As a bonus, all of the ticket sales benefit the Never Summer Senders, the Grand County’s Youth Climbing Team.
Winter Park Fireworks and Family Fest Presented by Coca-Cola
The Winter Park Resort is hosting this fun festival on January 18th at 6:00 PM. This free event offers up a fantastic firework show over the slopes, as well as cozying up by the bonfire, a s’mores bar, fantastic giveaways, and a DJ playing music. If you can’t make January, they also are holding one on February 15th at 6:30 PM, and March 14th at 8 PM!
Stagecoach Classic 2020
On January 25th, at the nearby Devil’s Thumb Ranch in Tabernash, the Winter Park and Fraser Chamber of Commerce are putting on the seventh annual “Stagecoach Classic” cross-country ski race and tour. The event concludes in downtown Winter Park with a beer garden, food vendors, and a party with a DJ from 11 AM to 3:30 PM.
Concerts at Ullrs Tavern
Ullrs Tavern in town often plays host to a number of traveling bands, and you can find quite a few live shows in early 2020. Wild Adriatic will be playing on January 5th, 2020, and The New Mastersounds will be having a show on January 17th, 2020, as well as a performance from Lucid Vision on January 25th, 2020. February brings TAUK on the 20th and Spafford on the 29th. Many of these are local or traveling bands, but even if you don’t know their music, the party at Ullrs Tavern always has a great atmosphere!
