Each spring, countless children and adults get excited when Spring Break comes back around again. This is the perfect time to plan your first vacation getaway for the year as the kids are off from school and the adults and ready to travel somewhere new. One such destination is Winter Park, and we are excited to see what Spring Break has in store for us this year. Spring Break in Winter Park is a little different, as our higher elevation keeps the snow and cooler weather around for quite a bit longer. However, that just means you have some fun activities at your disposal that no one else does. Take a look at what Spring Break in Winter Park will look like this year:
Winding Down of Ski Season
Winter Park is a popular destination during the colder months of the year as we are the home to Winter Park Resort. This local ski resort is where you will find many of our vacation rentals along with some of the best ski slopes in the state of Colorado. Winter Park Resort typically has a long ski season that will not end until the end of April. With most Spring Breaks occurring in March you will find that the slopes still have plenty of snow. In fact, there is still a considerable amount of snowfall in the month of March. This means that the slopes will still have powdery snow that offers the best ski conditions. Winter Park Resort is the highlight of our town and offers skiing and snowboarding over Spring Break. Purchase your lift tickets in advance or when you arrive. You will be able to access each slope and enjoy an exciting experience as you glide down the snow covered slopes. Ski and board rentals are always available from the rental shop. You will also find additional gear to rent including bindings, boots, helmets, jackets, and much more. Even beginners will have an incredible time on the mountain. They can sign up for ski and ride lessons that will teach all of the basics and a few intermediate tricks too. If skiing or snowboarding is not your favorite you can always purchase a tubing ticket that lets you ride a tube down exciting miniature slopes. Now that is a whole lot of fun here at Winter Park Resort!
Fishing
Don’t let the cold weather scare you from other outdoor activities that are waiting for you in Winter Park. Spring Break is a great time to try your hand at fishing. Winter Park is located near countless miles of rivers and streams that are full of fish to reel up. Fishing is a great family friendly activity that even little children will enjoy. There are great a few spots around Winter Park that are great for kids including Lion’s Club Ponds, Fraser River Trail, and Cozen’s Open Space Ponds. A fishing license is needed for anyone fishing ages 16 years or older. Licenses can be purchased at bait shops. You can also find fishing gear to rent for the day too. It is now easier than ever to grab your gear and hit the nearest watering hole. Come try out fishing during your Spring Break getaway.
Ice Skating
Another great activity that will still be around Winter Park when you visit for Spring Break is ice skating. You will find that Winter Park Resort offers ice skating at the base of the mountain that is open daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Ice skating is a great activity for a romantic date or to take the family out for an exciting outing. The resort features ice skate rentals for an additional fee so you can leave yours at home. Some of the best activities include glow night skating that brings out glow lights in the evenings on select dates including Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
