Silhouetted against the breathtaking Rocky Mountains, Grand County, Colorado is an inspiring place to be. An oasis of indoor and outdoor activities, this is a place that calls to those who love to hike, climb, ski or take to the waterways in search of nature’s best views. Whether you’re here for a short while or simply passing through, come and make the most of an afternoon spent at the Grand Park Community Recreation Center! A staple of this friendly city, the recreation center provides hours of fun for the whole family when you’re in Grand County.
Rock Climbing
Before you head towards the Rockies for some unbelievable rock-climbing adventures, make sure you’re well-prepared by taking a try on the rock-climbing wall at the Grand Park Community Recreation Center. During your visit, you can boulder (or free climb) up to twice your height, included in your entry fee! If traveling towards Colorado has left you needing a bit of a stretch or workout, the facility also hosts a full-service gym. Along with many group classes offered on a daily basis, there are also opportunities for private instruction. You do need to be belay certified by their instructors to use the auto-belay and ropes.
Swim Time
A trip to the Grand Park Community Recreation Center wouldn’t be complete without making time to take a dip in the pool. The aquatic center is perfect for the entire family with options to take a ride down the 20-foot waterslide, splash in the kiddie pool or leisurely enjoy the lap pool. For achieving greater moments of relaxation, make sure not to miss out on a turn in the hot tub and steam room. For those daredevils in your group, make sure to give the diving board a try and test the limits of aquatic performance! The Diving Board is only open on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4.
Jump and Gymnastics
When you’re looking for a place to get rid of any extra energy, take to one of the many courts available at the Grand Park Community Recreation Center. Hosting regular open-gym hours, guests will be able to enjoy several basketball hoops on-site! If you’re looking for something with a bit of a balancing edge, register for a class and learn to flip and twirl on the full gymnastic mat with a certified instructor. They recommend people sign up early for family gymnastics (ages 6 months to 7 years) and tramp classes (ages 8+) as the classes fill very quickly. Come as you are and simply bring a willingness to try something new. You’ll feel stronger just for trying! Payment is due at the time of sign-up and there are no refunds or cancellations.
