Poems have been written about it, songs have been sung, and indeed the Rocky Mountain range continues to be a destination for travelers of all ages. No place else in the world offers such a vast outdoor playground, where no matter what your adventure style is and where your comfort level is at, there is something for everyone. With so much to do and see, we recommend taking full advantage of your visit by planning an extended journey to Winter Park for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure!
Above All Else, Comfortable Accommodations
The most important aspect of planning a successful 30-day journey is finding the perfect accommodations. Having a basecamp for your adventures is not only practical, it’s an essential luxury to your comfort and healthy frame of mind. There will be days you’ll want to cook in the comfort of your own fully equipped kitchen or sleep in and have coffee and pastries at noon in your pajamas. You’ll enjoy the luxurious bedding atop the quality mattress when you crawl into bed at night. And above all else, you’ll be happy to have a spot in a prime location that allows you to take advantage of everything this area has to offer.
While driving your own transportation is completely doable, there are other options for getting around Winter Park as well. The Lift, a free local shuttle service, runs from 7:30 a.m. – 2 a.m. daily. This free service will transport you from your lodging choice, the Amtrak Station or wherever you may be in Winter Park & Fraser to your intended destination. The Lift Rider app lets you view the real-time location of the bus, get estimated arrival times, and set stop reminders so you never miss the bus. Uber and Lyft services are also available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Some of the obvious adventures to experience in Winter Park is skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing, summer tubing, scenic gondola rides, and golf. Not far from your front door, you’ll find even more adventures ranging from river rafting/kayaking/paddling, boating on the lake, mountain biking, horseback riding and even hayrides.
When you’re ready to explore a little further, take advantage of the gorgeous scenery and slow pace of the awe-inspiring byways and drives. Take a cruise up to the Rocky Mountain National Park and don’t fret if you find yourself coasting down a side road for a picnic near a waterfall. If you’re looking for some excitement, schedule a hot air balloon ride or take a train ride. Amtrak’s double-decker Winter Park Express will take you between Denver’s downtown Union Station and Winter Park Ski Resort. The two-hour ride has you cruising through 31 tunnels while offering stunning views of the Flatirons rock formations above Boulder. Consider this for a weekend getaway to Denver.
Enjoy Small-Town Living During your Journey to Winter Park
