Winter Park Christmas

2019 Winter Park Christmas

What could be better than spending Christmas cozied up in the Rockies? Besides miles of iconic winter wonderland scenery, you’ll get to enjoy all the traditional seasonal pastimes—think hot chocolate cuddled up by the fire, horse-drawn sleigh rides through the woods, and bright mornings spent adventuring down the ski slopes. In addition to that, Winter Park Christmas has plenty of events and local dining to make your holiday in the Rockies truly unforgettable!

Experience Christmas in Rocky Mountain Style

Imagine spending Christmas day going for an early morning ski or enjoying the majestic mountain scenery from your porch deck with a steaming cup of coffee. There are nearly endless ways to take advantage of Winter Park’s mountains and snow-covered trails this Christmas. Pay a visit to such the Village Ice Rink and get into the seasonal spirit with a time-honored pastime. With Grand Adventures Snow Mobile Tours, you can start your Christmas vacation off right by adventuring along the continental divide, ascending hundreds of feet with breath-taking views. For a tradition beloved by locals and visitors alike, spend an afternoon snow tubing at the Historic Fraser Tubing Hill. This year, throughout the month, you can even cut down your own Christmas tree in designated areas as long as you obtain the proper permit from the Winter Park Information Center for $20!

Holiday Events and Dining in the High Country

A great way to get into the spirit of the season is to go on a horse-drawn sleigh ride with Dashing Thru the Snow, including a pit stop for hot chocolate around a campfire—this year you can find them operating daily in the mornings, with a special late-afternoon Sunday ride. One of the most memorable annual Winter Park events is the Christmas Eve Torchlight Parade at the Winter Park Resort—this year on Tuesday, December 24th at 5:30 PM. The festivities begin with Christmas carols and a bonfire, and as twilight arrives there’s a procession of torches down the mountainside, complete with Santa Claus and his elves! Snowcat machines decorated in Christmas lights illuminate the slopes, and the event peaks with a fantastic firework display. Should you wish to dine out on the holiday, you’ll find quite a few restaurants offering holiday feasts, such as The Lodge at Sunspot, as well as a number of restaurants at Winter Park Resort.
